Christians Should Not Support Israel

Christians don’t have a right to force their religion on others. No one has a right to force religion on Christians. That is how Christians want to be treated, and that is the human right to freedom of religion.

Christians who support Israel cite theological beliefs. The belief is that Jews are God’s chosen people, or some reason why it is God’s will. Yet a nation for Jewish people, or any religious group, is a violation of the human right to freedom of religion. Thus, what many Christians claim is Christian theology is a violation of human rights.

The idea that God supports Israel, or that God supports human rights violations is ridiculous. Yet most Christians disagree with my theology. Thus, there is much variation in theological beliefs. Which explains why it is immoral to force religion on others. We don’t set speed limits based on theology.

A third reason why Christians should not support Israel is that Israel represents violations of human rights, and supporting human rights violations is not helpful to the Christian religion. The sad truth is that most Christians have supported Israel for over 75 years. That will be an eternal stain on the Christian religion. A non-believer is perfectly justified in saying, “I don’t want anything to do with Christianity because Christians support human rights violations.”

Christians who support Israel need to take a hard look at what that means. Christians who value human rights, which should be all Christians, do not support Israel.
